On Wednesday the 18th of April 2018 at 10am-1pm , the Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy carried out the seminar with the title  “World Heritage Day: Glocal Challenges” ,in the framework of the international day for the Monuments and the Sites.

The Institute opened the debate about the international cultural heritage, the necessity for its preservation and its protection, the international and national challenges that must be confronted. The seminar took place in the Law School of the National& Kapodistrian University of Athens, in the Palace of Arts.

Responsible for the presentation of the seminar had been Mrs. Vicky Tsianika (journalist).During the opening gambit, the introduction of the seminar had been occurred by the Manager of the branch in Athens, Mrs. Katerina Dimitriadi. During the first contribution, Mr. Christoforos Argiropoulos (President of the Melina Merkouri’s Foundation) talked about the issue of the marbles of Acropolis as a Greek request with all-embracing meaning. Afterwards, Dr. Antonia Zervaki (PhD at the International and European Studies department of NKUA) analyzed the connection between the international heritage and the international security. The third speaker had been Dr. Athanasios Nakasis (President of the Greek department of the International Council for Monuments and Sites-ICOMOS) who referred to the Monuments and their protection during war time.

Hereupon, Mrs. Elina Moustaira (Professor of the Law School of NKUA) presented the subject about national and international aspects of the private and the public pieces of art. Mr. Pantelis Mitsiou (Marketing and Communication Manager of Herakleidon Museum) mentioned the new approach for the meaning of the monument and Mrs. Stavroula-Villy K. Fotopoulou (Director of the Newer Cultural Heritage department of the Directorate-General of the Antiquities and Cultural Heritage of the Culture and Athletics Ministry) represented the convention about the preservation of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (UNESCO,2003) and analyzed the promotion  of the cultural identities in the 21st century.
