Mr. Ritsos was born in Ismailia, Egypt in 1959. In 1961, along with his family and the majority of Greeks from Egypt, he repatriated in Athens. He graduated from the Gymnasium /Lycaeum of Nea Smyrni and studied Crop Production at the Higher Technical Educational Institute of Thessaloniki. He completed his undergraduate studies in Agronomy at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona USA, obtaining his B.Sc. in Agronomy.
He continued his post graduate studies at Ohio State University , obtaining his M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics & Education.
After his studies he returned to Greece in order to fulfill his military obligations.
From 1986 till 2001 he worked as sales and marketing executive in multinational
agricultural supplies companies.
From 2001 till now he serves as CEO for a consultant company in the agribusiness area. He is responsible for consultation and quality control of farmers, farmers’ groups as well as food & beverage industries.
As a founder member of the Geopolitical Research Institute he has published studies regarding the restructure of the Greek Agricultural Sector, Food Self – sufficiency, promotion of the Greek Nutritional Culture , development of Producers – Consumers Network and the establishment of Community Supported Agriculture in Greece.
He is active in the development of traditional seed banks, revival of traditional cereal varieties and in the farmers- producers network development.
