On November 20, the Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy in collaboration with Galerie Creators and under the auspices of the Municipality of Kifissia, organized an event entitled “How the first man made the first mechanical universe”.

Mr. Xenophon Mousas, Professor of Space Physics at the University of Athens and a member of the Institute’s Academic Council, delivered a lecture for the Antikythera Mechanism. Mr. Moussas presented to the Greek public how the mechanism was built and operated, while the discussion focused on the use of the mechanism as a symbol of cultural reference and promotion of Greece throughout the world.

Mr. Moussa’s speech highlighted not only the scientific innovation and technical excellence of the Antikythera Mechanism, but also its modern significance as a symbol that reflects internationally the ancient Greek way of thinking and acting.
