Georgia Kouvela – Piquet

Mrs. Georgia Kouvela-Piquet is the Head of the branch of the Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy in Paris. 

She is a lawyer in Paris and Athens. As a lawyer, she has been a member of the Athens Bar Association since 1996 and of the Paris Bar Association since 1998. Mrs. Georgia Kouvela – Piquet is the founder of the homonymous Greek-French office. She holds a diploma in Private Law, a Master’s degree in International Law and a university degree in the European Law awarded by the French University II of Lille.  She works in the sector of Corporate Law in a national and international level.

The main activities of her office are on Private International Law, Employment Law, Law of Civil Liability, Personal Injury Compensation Claims, International Commercial Law, Arbitration, Intellectual Property Law, Corporate Law, and International Treaties. Her activity includes handling court cases as well as providing legal advice to individuals; she is also a counselor of international organizations such as the International Dance Council CID, of an international NGO in Paris which operates under the auspices of UNESCO, and of national and international commercial businesses in the industrial sector, in transport, in education, in energy, in food, in real estate, in tourism and in the protection of human rights.

Georgia Kouvela – Piquet is a member of the Greek-French Chamber of Commerce, of the French Association of Lawyers ANDAVI (i.e. an association of Lawyers for accident compensation claims), of the French Organization for the Support of the Trade Court Judges, and of the French Association on Law and Commerce.

In 2005, Georgia Kouvela – Piquet, the Greek office Soldatos & Partners in Brussels and the Cypriot office Vafeas & Partners co-founded the international network of Greek lawyers abroad named EURONOMOS, based in Paris.

After teaching Constitutional Law and Law of International Relations at Lille 2 University and at the Catholic University of Lille (during the years 1996-2000), Mrs. Georgia Kouvela – Piquet taught International Contracts Law at several Universities and Grandes Ecoles (as part of the MBA on Management and Corporate Law taught at the Higher Administration School in Paris). She also taught International Arbitration and Meditation Law (as part of the MBA on International Corporate Law taught at New York College in Athens) as well as International Contracts Law as a part of the MBA on Businesses’ Rights taught at the Supreme Management School at Grande Ecole in Paris.

Since 2005 she has been the Legal Counselor of the International Dance Council CID. Georgia Kouvela-Piquet participates regularly as a speaker in seminars and conferences on the French-Greek Comparative Law and the international legal relations that develop between Greek-French entities. To name a few, she participated in the Conference on “Greece at the Olympics of 2004” at the French Center of International Commerce (Paris, 1999, 2000); in the Conference on  “Co-ownership in Europe” organized by the Association of the Responsible for Co-ownerships in Europe” (ARC Sénat, Paris, 2007); in the Conference on “International Taxation and the Greek Crisis” which took place in Sorbonne with the Rector Mr. Fortsakis as interlocutor; in the Conference on “Meditation in Businesses” (in Athens, at the Greek-French Chamber, 2012); in the Conference on “Public Works and the Greek Crisis” (at the Industrial Chamber, Athens, 2013). She also participated in TV broadcasts like the “24H Chrono de l’international” dedicated to Athens on TV5 MONDE (Paris, 2008).
