When someone thinks about Vietnam , its political history, the violent Vietnam War during the Cold Times and the communism come automatically in mind.. Rarely are its cultural heritage, its musical importance and current cultural connection with other countries considered. This connection tries to show off the Asia-Europe New Musical Festival 2018.
Focused on “The Asia-Europe Musical Bridge” ,the festival will be held for the 3rd time in the row in Ha Noi, the capital of Vietnam. During the festival,200 composers and performers from 30 different countries will present the national evidence of Vietnam through choral, symphony and traditional folk performances, and opera performances, as well.
This year, the festival is organized by the Việtnam Musicians Association and according to the composer-chairman of the Association : “Throughout the festival performers from all over the world can have the chance to come in contact with the civilization ,the music and the people from Vietnam” , and continues saying that “The event presents the off Việtnam’s musical achievements.”
On the first day of the festival ,on the 24th of November 2018 , the first 11 compositions will be presented by the Việt Nam National Symphony Orchestra at the Hanoi Opera House, under the lead of the Japanese conductor , Honna Tetsuji, and the greek conductor, Zoe Zeniodi. The festival will end on the 27th of November 2018 at the Việtnam National Academy of Music. There will be presented composers’ arrangements from different countries from all over the world, for example, from Philippines ,Australia, Netherlands, Russia etc. , under the instructions of the French conductor, Olivier Ochanie. The compositions will be played by the Sun Symphony Orchestra ,while young Vietnamese musicians ,as well as,the “New Music” Orchestra from Tatarstan will perform chamber music.
